Our fifth anniversary is here, and I can't believe it has been that long! I get asked about our backstory a lot, so here it is!
I started Lindsay's Secret Closet in February 2013. I was barely 18, a freshman at Utah State University, and had no idea what I was doing. Frankly, the first 3 years or so are kinda embarrassing to look back on. There was a lot of inconsistency and a REAL bad website. Also, the name? I just couldn't think of anything better! It's all a learning experience though, right? I ran Lindsay's Secret Closet as a side hobby through my freshman year of college, getting married, and having my daughter.
Once my baby was born, Lindsay's Secret Closet was put on the back burner indefinitely. I was SO. TIRED. I was running on nothing but newborn cuddles, cereal, and a really loving husband. I had started a new meal planning service under my parents' business in Pocatello that was going well and I just felt the need to make a change.
Right around November 2015 I decided it was time to let Lindsay's Secret Closet go. I felt like it had been on the bottom of my list of priorities for too long to revive, so I decided to liquidate the little inventory I had left and move on with my life. I created a Facebook group and added some close friends, neighbors, and good customers to let them pick through my inventory before I donated the rest.
Soon enough these couple of people started sharing and adding friends to our group and it just kept growing and growing. I was getting emails, messages, and comments daily asking when I'd have new items in stock. WHAT? I decided to roll with it and order some new items just to see what happened. Within just a couple months my husband had to quit his job to help me run our boutique.
In May, I decided enough was enough- Lindsay's Secret Closet had to go! Our name was starting to spread, and I just couldn't go by my last ditch effort of a name anymore. May 9, 2016 we relaunched as Lettie Boutique with a brand new website, logo, name, photographer, everything!
WHY LETTIE?
Like I said, I just didn't like the name Lindsay's Secret Closet. I wanted something short and sweet, easy to remember, somewhat different, the works. I just putting sounds together and I really liked the "ttie" sound. I was thinking of Lottie or Lettie. I looked up the meaning of both words and Lettie means to give light and joy in Swedish. My grandma's family is from Sweden, and my life mission is to spread light, so it just seemed perfect!
YEAR 5
I can't believe it has been 5 years! I didn't take our first 3 1/2 years all too seriously if I'm being honest. It was a fun side thing to do when I had time for years, but I'm really grateful for those of you that have stuck around for that long! I'm so grateful for the friendships that have grown through this business and the opportunities it has given me.
